Okeechobee, Florida - August 6-13, 2007
Bread of Compassion sent a Teen Team to Okeechobee, Florida to lend a helping hand to the Real Life
Children's Ranch. The Ranch, located near Lake Okeechobee, serves as a long-term foster home for children who have
been abused and neglected. For the past 50 years, the Ranch has existed to provide a loving and caring family
environment where the children can learn the richness that comes from stability, a well-rounded life and a functional
family environment.
As a real working ranch, there is always a lot to be done. While our team was there, they cut grass,
pulled weeds, filled in holes in the driveway, trimmed palm trees, washed windows and power-washed the outsides of the
four homes that house the children. Our team completed TWO months of work in only THREE days!
In addition to helping to beautify the surroundings of the Ranch, the team spent valuable time playing
with the kids, sharing life experiences and helping out with the daily ranch duties.
